Our Story

We are Spencer and Kayla Ewert and are seeking to go to Papua New Guinea to be church planters among unreached people groups along with our three beautiful children - Brennan, Ava, and Talia.

Our Testimonies

Spencer: "I grew up in a small town in Nebraska and had the blessing of Christian parents. I was saved at an early age and walked with Him. Towards the end of high school, I began living for the world until God intervened in my life. On my 21st birthday He spoke and asked, 'Is this worth it?' So I began living like I knew I should, but the biggest change was that I began reading the Bible for myself and cultivating the loving relationship with God."

Kayla: "I did not grow up in a family that believed in Jesus. After some family events transpired, I moved around and lived with different family members until I graduated high school. A year later I signed up for the Air Force because I knew my life was going in a bad direction. After receiving an honorable discharge because of budget cuts, I came to realize just how meaningless my life was. After about 8 months of going to this amazing Bible preaching, Jesus following, church in Iowa, I realized that Jesus was and is who the Bible says. Somehow, I thought that I needed to clean up my life first-In my mind, I was "just too bad for Him." In trying to please God and realizing I could not be "good enough," I finally decided to throw in the towel on trying to be a good enough. That is when the Holy Spirit, in that quiet whisper that He does, let me know that I that is exactly why He died for me and that He loves me and wants me. At this point the gospel message just clicked, and I realized that Jesus already paid the price for my sin. Praise the Lord for the church I was attending in Norwalk who took me under their wing and lovingly discipled me and modeled what a deep and personal relationship with Jesus looks like."

Our Calling

Even before we had met each other, God called us both to Papua New Guinea while on a mission trip in Tijuana, Mexico. Church planters from Papua New Guinea were the evening speakers and told of the hundreds of unreached people groups in that country and how God was working among the people. In 2013 for Kayla, and 2014 for myself, God spoke to our hearts and led us to be a part of what He is doing in Papua New Guinea.

After God led us into missions, we then began dating and were married in 2016. We then both attended New Tribes Bible Institute in Jackson, MI and then moved back to Ogallala in 2019 for about 18 months. Here, we poured into our church and worked to save up money for the Missionary Training Center in Missouri with Ethnos 360, formerly New Tribes.

Now

Now, having graduated from the training center, we have moved back to raise support as we take the next step in going to Papua New Guinea as church planters. Our goal, Lord willing, is to head overseas by August 2023 or even by January 2023 if God "moves the mountains" sooner! To go, the mission has our family's needed support level at $9,500 per month. If you would like to learn more about giving or ways that you can partner with us, we would love to meet up with you in person or over the phone! Your contributions work towards the goal of placing a completed New Testament Bible translation into the hands of a mature, indigenous, and self-sustaining church.
